Breaking News: Jury-gate!

Sarah Palin posted a message on her Facebook page yesterday regarding rumors that she had canceled her bus tour.

*Sigh* Reports of Tour Demise Are Greatly Exaggerated
by Sarah Palin on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 6:14pm

Imagine our surprise when reading media reports today that the “One Nation Tour” has been cancelled. Why didn’t anyone tell me? Oh, wait, that’s because it hasn’t been cancelled. (Good ol’ media… you never cease to amaze!)

As I said myself at the end of the east coast leg of the tour, the summer is long, and I’m looking forward to hitting the open road again. The coming weeks are tight because civic duty calls (like most everyone else, even former governors get called up for jury duty) and I look forward to doing my part just like every other Alaskan.

I wouldn’t think it to be such a slow news day that, what with numerous wars and serious economic woes concerning Americans, a bus is driving news stories today. The next leg of the tour continues when the time comes. In the meantime, no one should jump to conclusions – certainly not the media with their long track record of getting things wrong or just making things up.

True to form, the lamestream media doubts her veracity. According to ABC News online:

Alaska Won’t Disclose If or When Sarah Palin Has Jury Duty

How long can Sarah Palin claim that jury duty is keeping her from her cross-country bus tour? Indefinitely, in theory.

The state of Alaska is not required to disclose if or when Palin (or any citizen, for that matter) has been called for jury duty.

“Jury lists are confidential, regardless of who is on them,” a spokesperson for the Palmer courthouse, which presides over Palin’s hometown of Wasilla, told ABC News today.

The former Alaska governor/potential presidential candidate blasted the media Wednesday for reports that she canceled her “One Nation Tour,” which has been on a three-week-long hiatus since it left the Northeast. (Palin previously told ABC News she wanted to tour Iowa, South Carolina, Nevada and beyond.)

In a Facebook post, Palin said she’s “looking forward to hitting the open road again” later this summer but, for now, “civic duty calls,” and, “even former governors get called up for jury duty.”

She added that her bus tour will resume “when the time comes” and, in the meantime, “no one should jump to conclusions” about why she’s not traveling.

I don’t know about you, but I take my civic duties seriously and have always answered the call to report for jury duty. That doesn’t mean that I want to do it, because those calls never come at a good time.

I wish I could just post a note on Facebook about having to serve jury duty and then have the lamestream media disrupt the selection process in a way that allows me to bow out, because I’m busy! I’ve always enjoyed the “lame” excuses that people give to the Judge as to why they can’t perform their civic duty. In Sarah’s case, it’s not because she doesn’t want to, it’s because the lamestream media turns everything she does into a circus. Talk about tainting the jury pool!
