Military Shenanigans or Purge?

navy-jackHere is the monologue from today’s Roderic Deane Show:

I’m very troubled by what I see going on in our military these days. In a nutshell, it seems our military is being wiped out from within! I kid you not!

We all know that the Obama administration has decided that gay military personnel can serve openly. We also know that the Obama administration has taken a decidedly “anti-Christian” stance, barring certain observances of Christian religions in combat zones and military bases. The question is, Why?

Perhaps as a way to answer the question “Why”, we need to look at other things that have been going on in the military. I’m going to quote a section of any article appearing on WorldNetDaily a few weeks ago:

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Patrick Brady, recipient of the U.S. military’s highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, as well as other top retired officers, say President Obama’s agenda is decimating the morale of the U.S. ranks to the point members no longer feel prepared to fight or have the desire to win.

“There is no doubt he (Obama) is intent on emasculating the military and will fire anyone who disagrees with him” over such issues as “homosexuals, women in foxholes, the Obama sequester,” Brady told WND.

Not only are military service members being demoralized and the ranks’ overall readiness being reduced by the Obama administration’s purge of key leaders, colonels – those lined up in rank to replace outgoing generals – are quietly taking their careers in other directions.

Retired Army Lt. Gen. William G. “Jerry” Boykin, who was with Delta Force and later Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence under President George W. Bush, says it is worrying that four-star generals are being retired at the rate that has occurred under Obama.

“Over the past three years, it is unprecedented for the number of four-star generals to be relieved of duty, and not necessarily relieved for cause,” Boykin said.

“I believe there is a purging of the military,” he said. “The problem is worse than we have ever seen.”

As another indication of demoralizing actions being taken by the Obama administration, we all remember some of the things that went on during the so-called government shutdown during the first half of October. We heard about the Obama barricading the WWII and Vietnam War Memorials in Washington, D.C. Do you know that Obama also forbid the observance of the Catholic Mass on military bases during the shutdown? Yep, it happened and Army Chaplains and priests were told that they would be court-martialled if they dared to defy the order.

Let’s put that in perspective. Let’s say we have troops in a war zone and supplies are temporarily cut off, like during the shutdown. Military leaders are forced to ration supplies to make sure the troops can survive until supply lines are re-established. Do they ration holy-water? Do they ration ceremonial wine? Not if they want to keep up the morale of the troops! The free expression of faith is of the utmost importance under dire circumstances! And trust me, the government shutdown was no “dire circumstance”. No, the curtailment of religious observances was done to “demoralize” the troops for domestic political gain.

Here’s another example and this comes from recent article in “The Daily Caller”, and the author’s name is Carl Higbie. I quote:

The Navy Jack is the ‘don’t tread on me’ flag, one that has earned a revered place in America’s naval history and a beloved place in sailor’s hearts, through its use for over two centuries. This symbol of America’s naval ferocity has spanned our country’s entire existence, flying from the masts of the Continental Navy during the war of independence, to today’s War on Terror. In fact, an amendment to the Navy code called SECNAV Instruction 10520.6 clearly states that as of 31 May 2002 all ships are to fly the flag throughout the duration of the War on Terror.

During my two deployments to Iraq, “Don’t Tread on Me” was a phrase seen on nearly every uniform and platoon space — including mine. From patches to flags to large paintings on concrete barriers, our commanders themselves wore the insignia on their sleeves — until now.

Perhaps this is why so many of my former teammates felt compelled to send me the email below. They may not be able to expose the administration’s travesty, but I can. The email, dated October 22, reads:

WARCOM and GROUP TWO/ONE have pushed out the uniform policy for NWU III and any patches worn on the sleeve.
All personnel are only authorized to wear the matching “AOR” American Flag patch on the right shoulder. You are no longer authorized to wear the “Don’t Tread On Me” patch.
Again the only patch authorized for wear is the American flag on the right shoulder. Please pass the word to all
Senior Enlisted Advisor
Jeff Peeler

When a friend of mine asked his leadership the same question, he was told, “The Jack is too closely associated with radical groups.” We must assume that this thought policeman embedded in the SEAL community is speaking of the Tea Party, whose flag (which also dates from the American Revolution) depicts a snake with the same defiant slogan as The Navy Jack.

Given what we know about the Obama administration’s disdain for the military and its tendency to look at everything through the prism of politics, it this so surprising?

Thankfully, this story seems to have a happy ending. After the story came out and people began expressing their outrage, the military brass retreated. In a follow-up article also appearing on The Daily Caller, author Caroline May reported the following:

A Navy official speaking with TheDC confirmed the policy and explained that Peeler — the senior enlisted adviser who ordered SEALs not to don the “Don’t Tread On Me” patch in an October email — made “an honest mistake” and is being counseled on the correct policy.

“I cannot really guess what was really going through his mind, but someone who is a senior enlisted adviser… you want to make sure that your guys are in line with uniform policy. That is part of your responsibility as a senior enlisted leader. But sometimes mistakes are made,” the official explained.

Sometimes mistakes are made? Really? How in the hell could such a mistake be made in light of a 200 year plus tradition?

There are plenty of other examples, but again, we’re left with the question of “Why”? Well, what do all these things seem to have in common? They have all occurred under our current Commander-In-Chief, Barack Obama. He and his Marxist buddies in Washington are remaking the military the conform to and be loyal to his ideology. Nothing that we see going on is out of deference to our Constitution. Vladimir Obama is putting his ideology before the Constitution and us. To Barack Obama, its all about controlling us.

Need I say more? Folks, if we don’t stand up to Obama and everything he stands for, our future is bleak indeed!
