The Roderic Deane Show: Immigration – Ball of Confusion!

Following is the monologue from today’s show:

There is so much going on that’s it’s hard to keep track of it all. The Benghazi affair has become a complete fiasco and I seriously doubt if we’re ever going to get any resolution on it. I hope we do, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it dies on the vine of our collective consciousness, although it shouldn’t.

The so-called “fiscal cliff” is all over the news. All I can say about it is this: Republicans, don’t bite. Let’s just go over the “Fiscal Cliff”. How much worse can it be than where we’re at today? Obama is demanding tax increases and has put forth nothing in the way of ideas on reforming entitlements, the elephant in the room. Screw him and all the Democrats in the House and Senate. Let them put THEIR proposals on the table first. Why the hell should Republicans?

No, forget about Benghazi and the “Fiscal Cliff”. I want to talk about immigration, the next big thing for Republicans to cave on. The GOP elite seems to think that if they pander to Hispanics, they’ll garner more votes. I don’t think so.

Hispanics, especially those from Mexico, are here for two reasons: jobs and security. The United States is offering them wages far above what they can expect in Mexico, but there’s something else that forms a major attraction and that is a social safety net.

So, what is a social safety net?

Simply put, it’s a system that mitigates failure, although that’s not its stated intention. It rewards anyone and everyone that can’t make it on their own, despite whether or not they even try to succeed.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not talking about refusing to take care of people who are in desperate need of help. I’m talking about refusing to reward slovenly and loathsome indifference to actually putting forth an effort. Perhaps that is what we should call the Democrat Party. A collection of politicians who pander to slovenly free-loaders who do absolutely nothing to contribute to their lot in life, or society in general. They feel entitled to a life they are not willing to WORK for. Where the hell is THAT in our Constitution?

When our politicians pander to sloth, they are pandering to the absolute worst elements of our society. They pit the sloths against the producers, who move society forward and enhance ALL our lives.

So now we have to debate immigration…..AGAIN!

Immigration to our country should be about attracting and rewarding those who want to have the opportunity to become a citizen of the United States and SUCCEED! It used to be that the United States was the shining city on a hill, not a room with a blanket, free meals and healthcare.

I’ll never forget something my mother used to tell me. “God helps those who help themselves.” It just seems that when you put forth an effort to succeed, circumstances will often align themselves to help.

The inscription on the Statue of Liberty states: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”

Note the key phrase, “…yearning to be free”. It doesn’t say yearning for a handout. It is freedom that should attract immigrants. The freedom to define yourself and the freedom to succeed. We should be trying to attract the best and brightest to continue to prove to the world that freedom works.

How in the world can we expect to attract those that wish for a better life and the rewards that freedom can provide, when we tell them that they’re hard-earned success will be turned over to those that do nothing?

There are several questions that we have to ask. First and foremost is: Why has the idea of border security gone nowhere? In order to protect our way of life, we must enforce sovereignty. Not only do we need to keep the bad guys out, we need to make sure that those who we do allow in are willing to be productive members of our society, not a drain on it.

Sadly, what we’re seeing are corrupt politicians trying to entrench themselves in the halls of power. That’s all you have to know about why border security has gone nowhere and why Obama has taken unilateral steps to grant amnesty by refusing to enforce our existing immigration laws. It is truly an assault on our sovereignty and way of life. All for political gain.

I truly believe that Barack Obama and his Marxist buddies in the Democrat Party will not be satisfied until they have totally undone everything that has made this country great. I leave you with the famous words of Ronald Reagan:

“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.”

We have truly devolved into a ball of confusion!
